Westside Christian Fellowship was officially launched in 1999 by David Ravell, a pastor from Australia. Since theearly 1990's, David had felt God leading him to start a church among the large immigrant population in Auckland. Out of this calling, Auckland International Church (AIC) was born. Due to not having a building, the church met in community centres and schools in central Auckland for the next few years. The immigrant congregation continuously changed, but one thing remained constant - the vision to bring people together to become all that God created them to be. Some of these members continue on with us today. Others have moved back to their home countries, but wherever they are, many have said that they continue to be impacted by that time we spent together.

At the end of 2005, David Ravell returned to Australia and Chad Davenport became the lead pastor. Chad had been the youth and music leader at AIC for the past five years. In the following months, the leaders and congregation identified several factors that would help it be more effective. These included things like the church location and meeting the needs of typical Kiwi families in our community. After almost a year of planning and prayer, the church was relaunched in February 2007 as Westside Christian Fellowship.

Currently, we are meeting at St. Paul's Anglican Church. After only a few months, we are already seeing good things happening. Our vision is still "to glorify God by being a Christ-centred community where people discover and become all that God created them to be" and we aim to do this by using real people to meet real needs.
